ST. MARYS — Fire crews from two local departments battled a house fire on Rolling Hills Drive Thursday night.
The St. Marys Fire Department and St. Marys Township Fire Department responded with trucks and manpower to a fire call at 610 Rolling Hills Drive. As firefighters battled the blaze, flames shot through the roof and heavy smoke poured from the fire. Approximately 10 vehicles responded to the scene. A St. Marys electrical department truck also responded to the scene.
FOSTORIA — A pair of St. Marys boys hurdlers and two distance runners qualified for Friday’s running finals at the Division II district meet at Fostoria with their performances on Wednesday.
St. Marys junior Luke Lemmerman qualified for the 110 meter hurdles finals with the second-best qualifying time of 15.68 seconds.
Roughrider senior Brennan Brown qualified fifth for the boys 300 meter hurdles final.
St. Marys senior Alex Mielke will run in the finals of the 1600 meter run after he finished 15th (4:56.6) in the preliminaries.
COLDWATER — During the Minster baseball team’s back-to-back state title runs and 15 straight postseason victories the past three seasons, they’ve consistently emerged from tough postseason situations on some of the state’s biggest stages.

WAPAKONETA — The resilient Hardin Northern Polar Bears defeated the Minster softball team 3-2 with a bases-loaded single in the bottom of the seventh inning to win the Division IV district semifinal at Wapakoneta.
ST. MARYS — The St. Marys City Schools Board of Education met for a special meeting Wednesday evening to pass several items related to personnel, including two retirements, several resignations and one appointment — Bill Ruane as principal at Memorial High School.
“He’s a proven commodity and we’re happy to bring him back home to continue his good work,” Superintendent Shawn Brown said.

CELINA — Mercer County Sheriff Jeff Grey reports that his office is investigating a theft that occurred in the parking lot of Zuma Automotive, 314 S. Main St., Celina. An unmarked vehicle, assigned to a detective from the sheriff’s office was entered sometime between Monday and Tuesday and items were stolen.
ST. MARYS — There will be a recount for the final council-at-large seat in the St. Marys Republican primary next week.
An automatic recount was triggered for the final spot between Dan Uhlenhake and Russell Bailey. The official vote ended in favor of Uhlenhake by a tally of 590 to 583. According to a state formula, a recount must be conducted if the difference between candidates is eight or less.

A weekly divorce support group will be held from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. today at Wayne Street United Methodist Church in St. Marys.
Phillip Dean Kaltenbach, 59, of Lynn St., Russia, died at 10:50 p.m. Monday, May 20, 2013, at his home.
He was born on Feb. 12, 1954, in Warren County, to the late Howard R. and Betty I. (May) Kaltenbach. He married Sharon Burnice on Jan. 8, 1994. She survives in Russia.
