ST. MARYS — Only one 3-pointer went down for the St. Marys boys basketball team all Friday night. It happened to be the one that sparked the Roughriders’ run away from Kenton for a 56-42 Western Buckeye League victory.
NEW KNOXVILLE — One of the most decorated players in Midwest Athletic Conference girls basketball history added another accomplishment to her growing list.
Needing one more basket to reach 1,000 points for her career and time running out on the first half, New Knoxville senior Haley Horstman juked at the top of the key to create an abundance of space, sliced into the lane and canned a 10-foot runner to reach the millenium mark in New Knoxville’s 76-25 win over Spencerville.
WAPAKONETA — After giving up the lead briefly to start the second half, the Wapakoneta Redskins quickly rebounded and closed out the Minster Wildcats in a tight ball game Saturday, giving first-year coach Doug Selvey his first win with the Redskins.
After leading virtually the entire first half, Wapak quickly regained the lead and held onto it the rest of the game in a 53-48 victory Saturday over Minster in the Wapakoneta High School gymnasium.
