Area cross country teams run at Coldwater

COLDWATER — Area runners shined in in the Lions Club Cross Country Invitational in Coldwater on Thursday, a key warm-up for upcoming league championship meets.

Girls
The Minster girls cross country team finished second with 56 points — 14 points behind first-place Coldwater. St. Marys finished seventh (200) and New Bremen was 12th (341). Minster’s Morgan Pohl was the top Minster finisher in sixth place with a 19:47 pace. Julia Slonkosky was seventh (19:52). New Knoxville’s Cassie Boyle finished eighth overall with a 20:04 time.Other top area finishers were Minster’s Kaci Bornhorst in 10th (20:08.65), Minster’s Lisa Barlage (17th, 20:21), New Knoxville’s Hannah Privette (19th, 20:24), Minster’s Olivia Enneking (22nd, 20:33), Gabrielle Barga (27th, 20:48), Minster’s Ali Borgerding (29th, 20:52), Minster’s Katherine Burke (31st, 21:01), St. Marys’ Amanda Dues (32nd, 21:01) and New Bremen’s Aly Elking (35th, 21:14). Other top St. Marys finishers were Kelly Wilker (21:37), Megan Hertenstein (21:55), Lexi Grothause (21:57), Hannah Tobin (22:12) and Rochelle Sudman (22:56).

Boys
The Minster boys cross country team finished third with 122 points and New Bremen took fourth with 129 points. New Knoxville finished 12th while St. Marys finished 15th. New Knoxville’s Isaac Kuntz took fifth overall with a 16:40 time. Minster’s Dominic Slonkosky was right behind with a sixth-place finish and 16:41 time.
Area top finishers were Minster’s Andy Albers in ninth (16:53), New Bremen’s Cort Speckman finished 13th (17:05), Minster’s Ben Butler (15th, 17:08), Nathan Herriott of New Bremen (17:28), New Bremen’s Drew McClurg (25th, 17:45), New Knoxville’s Jacob Shaw (31st, 17:58). St. Marys’ top finisher was Matt Schroyer with an 18:52 time.
