Boys Basketball: Roughriders Lose In Home Opener
The St. Marys Roughriders started the game leading 13-12 after the opening quarter, shooting 60 percent [6-10] from the field against St. Henry.
But from the second quarter on, the Roughriders home opener looked much like their season opener on the road as St. Marys shot just 9 of 26 [39 percent] and were outscored 50-28 in the last three quarters.
That all resulted in a 62-41 non-league home opening loss to the Redskins Friday night at Memorial High School.
The Roughriders were also out rebounded by the Redskins by a 32-20 margin and committed 18 turnovers on the night.
Derek Jay led the Riders with 20 points and six rebounds.
Jacob Grannan scored five points and grabbed two boards, but he was 2 of 6 from the field and did not make his first field goal of the second half until late in the third quarter.
Colin Grothause scored four points, Austin Wilker and Drew Jacbos each scored three points.
