Clayton Prater, 59

Clayton Prater, 59, of 6953 State Route 219, Celina, died at 6:53 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 12, 2014, in the emergency department of Coldwater Community Hospital.

He was born on Jan. 6, 1955, in Floyd County, Ky., the son of Douglas and Genevene (Chaffins) Prater, and they preceded him in death.

He married Cynthia Krugh on June 19, 1981, and she survives at the residence.

He is also survived by his children, Renee Schwarck of St. Marys, Shannon Cordray of Coldwater and Lonnie (Lorra) Prater of Rossburg, seven grandchildren, Jordan Schwarck, Desiree Schwarck, Brittany Schwarck, Preston Prater, Cameron Prater, Brianna Prater and Zach Cordray, by a great-grandson, Landon Schwarck, by his mother-in-law Judy Krugh of Rockford, his dog, Bear, his siblings, Felsie Cassidy of Sidney, Janice Foos of Delphos, Mildred (James) Rupert of Spencerville, Quinton (Susie) Prater of Lima, Lucrida (Donnie) McCormick of St. Marys, Patricia (David) Kohlhorst of St. Marys, Louvonda (Ron) Slone of St. Marys, Thelma (Dennis) Fisher of St. Marys and Lydia (Gary) Pennington of Sidney.

Clayton was a veteran of the U.S. Army. He was a welder and had worked at the Haulette Corporation for many years. He loved watching basketball, playing his guitar and was a fan of MOPAR.

Funeral rites will begin at 1 p.m. Monday at the Miller Funeral Home, 1605 Celina Road, St. Marys, the Rev. Gary Mosley, officiant.

Burial with military honors will follow at Elm Grove Cemetery, St. Marys.

Friends may call from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home, where memorial gifts may be given to Clayton’s family.
