Donald E. Minnich, 52, of 604 Black Oak Drive, St. Marys, died on Sunday, April 13, 2014, at his residence.

He was born on May 4, 1961, in St. Marys, the son of Herschel and Barbara (Howell) Minnich.

He is survived by his mother, Barbara Minnich, of Celina, by his three children, Barbie (James) Mabry of St. Marys; Mindy (Cori) Gray of St. Marys and Eddie Minnich of St. Marys.

 He is survived by four grandchildren, Lexi Mabry, Lizzie Mabry, E.J. Mabry and Camdon Gray; by his siblings, Roger (Florene) Minnich of St. Marys, Anthony (Beth) Minnich of Tennessee, Patricia (John) Harrod of Celina, Mike Minnich of Wapakoneta, Philip Minnich of St. Marys, Tammy Minnich of St. Marys, Kris Grant of St. Marys, Bruce (Charlene) Minnich of St. Marys and Lisa (Scott) Grant of St. Marys.

He is survived by 17 nieces and nephews, including his three godsons, Shane Minnich, Ryan Minnich and Jordan Minnich. He is also survived by numerous aunts, uncles and great-nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his father, Herschel Minnich.

Don was a 1979 graduate of St. Marys Memorial High School. He served his country for 10 years in the United States Air Force and he was employed at Veyance Technologies in St. Marys for many years. He was a member of the Celina Moose and Eagles Lodge 767.

Don adored his children and grandchildren. He enjoyed going to amusement parks and riding roller coasters and he was a huge fan of the music of Michael Jackson.

Funeral rites will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at the Miller Funeral Home, 1605 Celina Road, St. Marys, the Rev. Dr. David Williams, officiant.

Burial, with military honors, will follow at Elm Grove Cemetery in St. Marys.

Friends may call from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. and from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home, where memorial donations may be made to either the Alzheimer’s Foundation or to a charity of the donor’s choice.
