February 25, 2013

WAPAKONETA — Troopers in Wapakoneta seized almost 100 ecstasy pills and a loaded handgun following a traffic stop Saturday morning.

Louis A. Williams, 33, of Birmingham, Ala., was incarcerated in the Auglaize County Jail and charged with possession of drugs, a first-degree felony and for carrying a concealed weapon, a third-degree felony, following a traffic stop at 7:05 a.m. Saturday. Troopers stopped a 2003 Chevy Impala, with Alabama registration, for an alleged speed violation on Interstate 75, near milepost 117.

During a pat-down for weapons, troopers allegedly discovered a loaded .22 caliber handgun in the Williams' front pocket. A search of the vehicle allegedly revealed 98 ecstasy pills, worth approximately $1,700, stolen documents and a small amount of marijuana.

If convicted on the charges, Williams faces a maximum of 15 years in prison and a $30,000 fine.
