Minster boys win MAC golf title, Fischer MAC girls medalist

VERAILLES — The Minster boys golf team  ran away from the rest of the field and captured the Midwest  Athletic Conference boys golf title at Stillwater on Saturday.

Minster shot a 313, led by tournament medalist John Burke’s 76, to win the MAC tourney title by 20 strokes.  Parkway finished second with a 333 score. Versailles, which entered the tournament along with Minster unbeaten in league play, finished third with a 341 score.

Minster’s Burke led all golfers with his 76.  Austin Brackman and Freddie Purdy each shot 78s. Xavier Francis added an 81 for the winning score. Sam Schutte shot an 87 and Matt Trushaw had an 89 for the Wildcats.

New Bremen finished fourth with a 350 team score. Travis Bertelsen led the Cardinals with an 80, which was the seventh best score of the day. Alex Britton shot an 84, Jacob O’Neill carded a 91 and Markus Sachtler rounded out New Bremen’s scoring with a 95. Max Travis carded a 96 and Zach Hegemier had a 97.

New Knoxville finished 10th with a 411 score. David Boesche led the Rangers with a 92. Brandon Steinke had a 102, Shane Topp shot a 105 and Nick Thobe had a 112.

Parkway’s Jordan Bollenbacher finished second individually with a 77.

Versailles captures girls title

MINSTER — Minster’s Claire Fischer shared medalist honors at the MAC girls golf championship with Coldwater’s Taylor Koesters and Brooke Wehrkamp of Versailles with an 81.

Versailles won the MAC title with a 368. St Henry finished second with a 390. Minster was third with a 398, and New Bremen finished fourth with a 411 score.

Minster’s Marissa Conrad shot an 87, good for fifth place individually.

New Bremen’s Mackenzie Howell’s 92 was sixth place. Rachel Parker carded a 95.

Minster’s Abby Hausfeld shot a 102 and Laura Meyer added a 128.

New Bremen’s Heather Bensman had a 108 and Sydney Holdren had a 116.
