Nanette “Nan” Bowling, 79
Nanette “Nan” Bowling, 79, of 8080 Ohio 703, Celina, died on Wednesday, Dec. 25, 2013, at Joint Township District Memorial Hospital in St. Marys, following a brief illness.
She was born on Nov. 13, 1934, in St. Marys, the daughter of Thomas and Gertrude (Ruffing) White Jr.
She married Dr. John F. Bowling, M.D., on Aug. 24, 1957, and he survives at the residence.
She is survived by her eight children, Daniel (Sherri) Bowling of Cincinnati, Frederick (Deb) Bowling of Cincinnati, David (Shelley) Bowling of Cincinnati, Gregory Bowling of Hamilton, Thomas (Patti) Bowling of Cincinnati, Joan (Ted) Binzer of Centerville, Anne (Mike) Henkle of Wooster, Susan Bowling of Cincinnati, by 15 grandchildren and by one great-grandchild.
She is survived by her siblings, Joan (Larry) Fortman of Charlotte, N.C.; and Kathy (Tom) Ansley of Springfield. She is survived by her sister-in-law, Mary Durbin of Highland, Ill.; brothers-in-law Don (Mary Beth) Bowling of Indianapolis, Ind.; Dick (Penny) Bowling of Indianapolis, Ind.; and by her sister-in-law Jane Gariety of Knoxville, Tenn.
She was preceded in death by her parents, by a brother, Thomas White III and by a sister-in-law, Anne Rick.
Nan was a 1952 graduate of St. Marys Memorial High School and a 1956 graduate of Mt. Saint Joseph College in Cincinnati, with a BS in nursing. She was a nurse at Joint Township District Memorial Hospital.
Nan’s passion in life was her family. She and her husband love spending time with their children and grandchildren. She also enjoyed flower gardening, traveling and golfing. She will be remembered as a very kind person who was a joy to be around. She was a lifelong member of Holy Rosary Catholic Church in St. Marys.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday at Holy Rosary Catholic Church in St. Marys, the Rev. Barry Stechschulte officiating.
Burial will follow at Gethsemane Cemetery.
Friends may call from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Sunday at Miller Funeral Home, 1605 Celina Road, St. Marys, where a Rosary service will be held at 8 p.m.
Memorial gifts may be given to either Friends of Holy Rosary or for mass intentions at Holy Rosary Catholic Church.
