Saturday Sports Recap: Fox Throws Perfect Game

Sophie Fox pitched a perfect game and the New Bremen Cardinals swept Lima Central Catholic in a non-conference softball doubleheader on Saturday.

 

Fox struck out eight as the Cardinals won game one of the doubleheader, 13-0.

 

Debbie Paul was 3-for-3 at the plate with three doubles, Kaitlyn Ahrns batted 2-for-3 with 3 RBIs and Sarah Hall was 1-for-3 with 2 RBI and a double.

 

Fox recorded the save in game two, behind Jenna Broerman in a 4-3 victory.

 

Madison Wells recorded an RBI double for the Cardinals, who play at Parkway on Monday.

 

JACKSON CENTER — The New Bremen Cardinals ended their two-game losing streak and two-game shutout streak by pounding Jackson Center, 32-13 in non-conference action on Saturday.

The Cardinals scored four runs in the first and scored in every inning but one.

However, New Bremen tallied a 13-run seventh as part of its 32 runs for the game.

Deione Hoehne was 6-for-7 at the plate with eight RBIs and four runs scored on the day for the Cardinals. Greg Parker and Ben Schwieterman were both tallied three hits, 4 RBIs, two walks. Caleb Alig was 2-for-2 at the plate with three RBIs, four walks and he scored four times. Casey Parker and Darrin Hays both had two RBIs and Grant Selby, Owen Leugers and Brennan Topp each had one RBI.

The Cardinals travel to Covington to take on the Buccaneers on Monday.

FORT LORAMIE — The Minster Wildcats swept Fort Loramie in a doubleheader on Saturday in non-conference softball action. 

The Wildcats (7-4) defeated the Redskins 11-3 in the early game and 5-4 in game two.

Jenna Poeppelman (7-4) was the winner in both games, going a combined 14 innings, allowing seven runs on 12 total hits and struck out eight.
In game one of the doubleheader, Danielle Barhorst batted 3-for-5 with three runs scored. Lindsey Albers batted 3-for-4 with a home run and two RBIs. Alice Schmiesing was 3-for-4 at the plate with a pair of RBIs. Taylor Homan also brought in to runs and Karly Richard recorded two hits.

In game two of the doubleheader, Homan was 3-for-4 with a double and an RBI while Richard was 2-for-4 with one RBI.
Jessica Berelsman got in on the scoring with a 1-for-3 day at the plate and an RBI.

The Wildcats will play at Lima Central Catholic on Tuesday.

HOUSTON — The New Knoxville Rangers were swept in non-conference doubleheader baseball action on Saturday against Houston.

The Rangers lost game one 7-0, and game two 8-6. Nathan Merges took the loss for the Rangers in the first game.
Branden Puckett took the loss in the second game. Hunter McMurray and Nathan Tinnerman both hit a double in game two.

New Knoxville will play at Marion Local on Tuesday.
