BOWLING GREEN — St. Marys sophomore Madison Taylor is headed to state after finishing second at the Division II district diving meet at Bowling Green State University on Wednesday.
Taylor scored a 359.25 to place second and advance to the state meet on Wednesday, Feb. 20 at the C.T. Branin Natatorium in Canton.
The St. Marys swim team will be sending 10 competitors to the district meet on Friday and Saturday.
Molly Menker will swim in the girls 200 freestyle race on Friday. She had the third-best qualifying time of the district qualifiers in the event (2:01.7).
Sierra Braun will swim in the girls 100 butterfly and the 200 individual medley on Friday. Braun advanced to the district in the 100 butterfly. In the 200 individual medley she’s the 14th best district qualifier with a 2:27.84 time.
The St. Marys girls 200 freestyle relay team of Sierra Braun, Jazmine Mines, Molly Menker and Courtney Steeele and the 200 medley relay team of Braun, Megan Hertenstein, Menker and Steele will compete in the qualifying race on Friday.
The St. Marys boys team will be sending five swimmers to the district competition.
St. Marys junior Jared Deubler, a state qualifier as a freshman, will compete in two events. Deubler has the top qualifying time in the boys 100 backstroke with a 55.61 second time.
Deubler will compete in the boys 100 freestyle. Deubler has the seventh-best qualifiying time with a 50.53-second time.
St. Marys senior Noah Hartsock will swim in the qualifier in the 50 freestyle.
The St. Marys boys 400 freestyle relay team of Hollman, Deubler, Braun and Hartsock enters the event with the eight-best qualifying time. The same quartet has the third-best qualifying time in the 200 medley relay.
St. Marys senior Matt Hollman is a qualifier in two events. He’ll compete in the boys 100 breaststroke. He has the ninth-best qualifying time (1:06.19). Hollman will also race in the 200 individual medley, in an event he has the 13th-best qualifying time.
Jon Krebs, a sophomore, also is a qualifer in the 100 breaststroke event.
St. Marys junior Dakota Braun will compete in the 100 butterfly.
