Two Arrested In Bar Incident

WAPAKONETA — A Minford man was arrested Friday morning for allegedly possessing a firearm while intoxicated.

At 2:28 a.m., officers from the Wapakoneta Police Department responded to the Ohio Bar, 17 E. Auglaize St., Wapakoneta, on a report of a man inside the establishment with a gun. Upon officers' arrival, two males fled the bar. Officers also learned that one of the suspects flashed the gun inside the bar. A short foot pursuit ensued and both suspects were taken into custody and a loaded handgun was recovered.

Arrested were:

• Kyle E. Shelpman, 25, of Minford, on charges of aggravated menacing, possession of a firearm in a liquor establishment and possessing a weapon while intoxicated.

• Benjamin A. Casey, 25, of Englewood, on a charge of disorderly conduct because of public intoxication.

Both are being held at the Auglaize County Jail and no one was hurt during the incident. The Auglaize County Sheriff's Office and the Ohio Bureau of Criminal Investigation and Identification assisted the Wapakoneta Police Department in the matter.
