Wapak Man Indicted On Sex Charges

WAPAKONETA — A Wapakoneta man was indicted on sex offenses stemming from an investigation by the Auglaize County Sheriff’s Office.

On July 16, the sheriff’s office received a complaint concerning a person allegedly taking a video of a small child in a state of nudity.  Based upon the information provided a search warrant was executed at the suspects residence located at 13690 Brown Road in rural Wapakoneta.

A number of computers and related electronic devices were seized and examined. Illegal images were allegedly found on some of the items.  

The case was forwarded to the Auglaize County Prosecutor’s Office and presented to a grand jury.

On Monday, the grand jury returned an indictment against Gregory N. Hengstler on one count of illegal use of a minor in a nudity oriented material, a second-degree felony, one count of gross sexual imposition, a third-degree felony, and one count of pandering obscenity involving a minor, a fifth-degree felony. Hengstler is currently out on a $500,000 bond with a 10 percent cash provision.
