Rider Ready To Hit Mat

ST. MARYS — Memorial High School senior Jaden Heitkamp is wrapped up in wrestling, something that is evident from the way he spent his summer. Heitkamp attended Team Miron Wrestling camp in Columbus with two other St. Marys wrestlers for five days this summer. It is one of the most intense and challenging wrestling camps in the nation, Heitkamp said. He and his friends spent nearly nine hours practicing every day, something he said took a lot of “blood, sweat and tears.” But it drives home his firm belief that work ethic is everything in life.

Gas Service Disrupted

ST. MARYS — A Dominion East Ohio gas line has been hit near the area of St. Marys Living Center. Service to approximately 200 customers has been affected. Crews are in the area making necessary repairs, but it could take hours before service is restored.

Treatment Train Progresses

CELINA — Work should soon begin on a project that one local economic development official says will continue the work to heal Grand Lake St. Marys.

Members of the Grand Lake St. Marys Lake Facilities Authority (LFA) approved a joint intergovernmental agreement that covers phase one and two of the Coldwater Creek treatment train and wetlands re-establishment project. The first two phases of the project deal with all the design and permitting work and construction administration of the estimated $2.5 million project.

Above Average Numbers Cast Absentee Votes

ST. MARYS — Absentee voting has gotten off to a brisk start in Auglaize County.

As of Thursday, 2,467 residents requested absentee ballots be mailed to them ahead of the Nov. 4 General Election. Auglaize County Elections Board Director Michelle Wilcox said of that number, approximately 1,000 have be returned to the board of elections office.

Diamonds To See Facelife

ST. MARYS — Some of the diamonds at K.C. Geiger Park are slated to get a facelift in the coming years.

During Monday night's St. Marys Parks and Playgrounds Committee meeting, City Engineer Craig Moeller briefed committee members on some of the work being done at the park. Moeller said crews started working on improving diamond No. 7 shortly after the fall season. However, wet weather has forced the postponement of any further work until the field dries.
