The Celina Fire Department responded to a house fire early Monday morning, where they discovered one person had died.
At 2:37 a.m., the Celina Fire Department received a call of a house fire at 221 E. Warren St., Celina. According to a news release from Fire Chief Douglas Wolters, on arrival the first responders found a two story, single family dwelling with heavy fire on both floors and flames coming from the windows of the home. Crews were unable to make entry because of the extent of the fire and damage to the home. Once the main body of fire was extinguished, they located Jeremy Bricker, who was deceased, in the kitchen near the rear door of the home.
The property was owned by Jeremy and Jesse Bricker and was deemed a total loss. There was no insurance on the home.
An autopsy is being conducted by the Montgomery County Coroner’s Office. No foul play is suspected at this time pending the results of the autopsy. The cause of the fire is under investigation but appears to be accidental.
The State Fire Marshal’s Office, Celina Police Department, Mercer County Prosecutor's Office and the Mercer County Coroner Dr. Timothy Heindrichs are assisting with the investigation. Celina Fire Department responded with three trucks and nine firefighters and remained on the scene for nine hours.
