Four Roughriders Named To All-District Team

Four players from the St. Marys Roughriders football team were named to the Division III, All-Northwest District team over the weekend.

Junior Running back Eric Spicer was named second-team All-Distirct as a running back and senior Randy Slife was named second-team as a defensive back.

Spicer ran for 1,213 yards on 190 carries and 10 rushing touchdowns in 2015..

Spicer ranked fourth in the WBL in rushing yards, averaging 121.4 yards a game and ranked first in yards per cary with a 9.3 average.

However, in terms of all-purpose yards, Spicer ranked second to only Wapakoneta's Cameron Lauck — the 2015 Offensive Player of the Year — with 1,681 yards, averaging 168.1 yards a game.Slife ends his career as a 2015 second-teamer in all-district.

The senior corner recorded a team and career-high five interceptions as a Roughrider this season, which was the fourth most amount in the league. He finished his career off in style with two interceptions in the season-finale against Ottawa-Glandorf.

Senior tackle Zach Elshoff finishes his career as a 2015 honorable mention All-NW District as well as fellow teammate Jonathan Peterson.

The Roughriders football program had their first winning season since the team went to the playoffs in 2009. In addition, it is the first winning season for the program since the St. Marys school district opened the new St. Marys Memorial High and Middle School in 2010
