There were no late-game heroics in this game, just a blowout.

The Shawnee Indians defeated the St. Marys Roughriders 79-50 Friday night in Western Buckeye League varsity boys basketball action.

The Roughriders played from behind from the start, but at first, they fought back just like they did a week ago in Van Wert.

Down 8-0 early in the first, the Roughriders went on an 11-0 run to take an 11-8 with 2:44 left.

Both teams ended the first quarter with a 14-14 tie.

However, the Riders continued their momentum, riding a 10-0 run to start the second quarter.

Jacob Grannan got things going with a bucket and then a 3-pointer in St. Marys' first two possessions to go up 19-14. Drew Jacobs and Derek Jay answered with a two and a 3-pointer respectively to increase the lead to 24-14 with 6:00 left in the half.

The Riders scored 24 points in the first 10 minutes of the night; they ended the night scoring just 26 points in 24 minutes.

The Indians - starting at the 5:45 mark of the second quarter, ended the half on a 16-0 run and the Roughriders never recovered.

Grannan led the Roughriders with 21 points. Jay scored 15 point and grabbed six boards. Austin Wilker tallied seven points. Chase Roop added three points and grabbed five boards.
