A local man was arrested Thursday night following a 90-minute stand-off with police officers.
The St. Marys Police Department responded to 623 W. North St., St. Marys, following a report of an alleged domestic violence incident. When officers arrived, Andrew Meinerding, 30, barricaded himself inside the residence and threatened to commit suicide with a knife.
Negotiators from the St. Marys Police Department, Sgt. Jake Sutton and Ptl. Josh Boos, engaged Meinerding for more than 90 minutes on the telephone. The Auglaize County Special Response Team arrived on the scene and surrounded the residence as a safety measure. Boos and Sutton were able to get Meinerding to peacefully surrender and he was taken into custody shortly after 9 p.m. Thursday.
Meinerding was transported to the Auglaize County Jail on charges of domestic violence and inducing panic.
