Minster Advances to District In 4-0 Win Over Lincolnview

The Minster Wildcats played a picture perfect game Wednesday night both offensively and defensively as they took the Division IV sectional championship with a 4-0 victory over the Lincolnview Lancers at Hanover Park in Minster.


The Wildcats (17-8) will now play in the Division IV District semifinal next Wednesday at Coldwater against Crestview — who defeated Delphos St. John’s 1-0 — in the second game at 7:15. Lincolnview ends their season at 12-13.


Minster got started quick with three runs in the bottom of the first inning.


Falk led off with a screaming line drive down the third base line. Brett Hoelscher reached on a sacrifice bunt when the first baseman threw wide to first which allowed Falk to score after he stole second base.


Jon Niemeyer then singled with both he and Hoelscher advancing bases on a wild pitch. 


A sacrifice fly to center by Alex Lehmkuhl allowed Hoelscher to score and Isaac Schmiesing brought home Niemeyer with a single to right.


Josh Nixon pitched a superb game his six-inning shutout, surrendering just three hits while fanning 13 and walking nobody. 


Jason Roberts took the loss for Lincolnview, giving up four runs, two earned, on five hits and walking three.
