New Bremen Shows Off Speed In Prelims

The New Bremen Cardinals made their early impression during Day 1 of the Division III state track and field meet at Jesse Owens Memorial Stadium.

The Cardinals’ lone relay team, the 4x400-meter relay qualified for the finals on Saturday, competing alongside cross-village rival Minster.

The team of Julia Goettemoeller, Rachel Kremer, Macy Puthoff and Paige Jones finished eighth with a time of 4:03.69, owning their heat with the third-best time in their heat.

New Bremen also had an individual advance to the finals on Saturday in Goettemoeller, as the senior edged out New London’s Maryonna Cathey by .02 with a ninth-place finishing time of 46.63. She finished with the fifth-place time in her heat.

In her first trip to state in her first year at the high school level, Tess Lane finished 18th overall with a time of 16.65 in the girls 100-meter hurdles.
