Rangers Fall To Bath

In a defensive struggle, the Bath Wildcats outlasted and survived a non-league win Saturday night as they won the Kewpee Classic Tip-off for the 12th straight season after a 25-22 win against New Knoxville.

The Rangers (1-1) who beat Elida in the first match Friday night, finished as runner-up in the classic.

New Knoxville led in the first quarter, 5-0, holding on the ball, making their possessions last longer than one minute each. In the second quarter however, the Wildcats (2-0) stormed back and outscored the Rangers 12-2 to take a 12-7 lead at the half.

Entering the fourth quarter down 23-15, the Rangers outscored the Wildcats 9-2 - with senior Abby Lageman scoring six points in the final period - to pull within three points, 25-22, with 1:45 left/ New Knoxville had three opportunities to tie the game, but could not convert on three separate possessions.

In other Midwest Athletic Conference action Saturday night, the New Bremen Cardinals lost to the Anna Rockets 57-44 in non-conference action.
