Spencerville Man Arrested

A Spencerville man was arrested early Sunday morning on a trespassing charge.
According to a news release issued by the Mercer County Sheriff's Office, James Baker, 34, 208 Reynolds Ave., Spencerville, was arrested and charged with criminal trespassing following an incident in the 4000 block of Kittle Road. At 3:51 a.m. Sunday, dispatchers received a call from the home owner at 4960 Kittle Road. The home owner reported he caught two subjects on his property and he was holding them at gunpoint until deputies could arrive. Before deputies arrived, one of the male subjects took off on foot.
Deputies recovered items that were left by the suspects near their vehicle. Deputies recovered a black box containing several baggies of suspected methamphetamine, pills that are suspected of being morphine, a bag of suspected marijuana and a pocket scale. The substance in the baggies was field tested, and tested positive for methamphetamine. Deputies also seized Baker's 2005 Hyundai. Baker was transported to the Mercer County Jail and held on $125,000 bond with a 10 percent cash provision.
The Coldwater Police Department assisted at the scene. Investigators are seeking a search warrant for the vehicle and the case will be forwarded to the Mercer County Prosecuting Attorney's Office for consideration of additional charges.
Deputies are currently seeking the suspect who fled. He is described as being 5-foot, 6-inches tall, weighing approximately 150 pounds, last seen wearing a white T-shirt and blue jeans. Anyone with information is encouraged to contact the Mercer County Sheriff's Office.
This incident remains under investigation.
