A four-run lead, a comeback in the bottom of the seventh, a throw out at the plate in the eighth and a game-winning run in the ninth, it’s amazing to think that this game was at one time 5-1.

But that’s what happened Tuesday night as the St. Marys ACME team blew a four-run, trailing in the bottom of the seventh, just to come back and eventually win in the ninth, 8-7, in an ACME contest against Coldwater at KC Geiger Park.

With one out, Derek Jay blooped the ball to right field for a base hit, but Coldwater’s Nate Rindler dove for the ball, allowing it to skip by and Jay to scamper to third base for a triple.
The bases were eventually loaded when Julius Fisher intentionally walked and Evan Vogel beat out an infield hit for Colin Clements.

Not having played since the beginning of the month, Clements was fresh, slapping a first-pitch fast ball over Rindler’s hit to score in Jay for the winning run.

The left-hander Austin Hollandsworth recorded the win in three innings of work.
