St. Marys Girls, Boys Soccer Teams Advance

Both St. Marys girls and boys varsity soccer teams on their opening Division II sectional semifinal matches.

In the early game, the varsity girls soccer team defeated the Kenton Wildcats 1-0.

Courtney Helmlinger scored the lone goal for the Roughriders in the first half.

They will travel to play the Western Buckeye League champion Bath Wildcats on Thursday.

For the varsity boys soccer team, the boys took care of Van Wert in their rematch, 3-0 Monday night to advance.

Caleb James scored the first goal of the game with 1:25 remaining in the first half. Zach Lemmerman added the second goal and Evan Vogel scored the final goal in the win.

The boys team will host Bath on Thursday.
