Volleyball

Coldwater 3, Minster 0

The Minster Wildcats volleyball team played strong in all three sets, but lacked consistency and it cost them as the Coldwater Cavaliers opened their Midwest Athletic Conference season with a 25-21, 25-19 and 25 20 victory over the Wildcats at the Palace in Coldwater.

Jordan Heibrink led the Wildcats with 12 kills and five digs.

Paige Purdy finished with a team-high 13 digs, while Hayley Baumer finished with eight and Emily Stubbs with nine digs for Minster (3-1, 0-1 MAC). 

​Versailles 3, New Bremen 2

The New Bremen Cardinals volleyball team lost its first match of the season, falling to Versailles in five sets, 25-16, 26-28, 25-22, 23-25, 12-15 on Thursday in the Midwest Athletic Conference opener.

Paige Jones led the Cardinals (5-1, 0-1 MAC) with 48 kills. Rachel Kremer recorded six kills and six aces. 

Blake Snider had 10 digs and Madison Pape collected 56 assists.

New Knoxville 3, Parkway 1

The New Knoxville Rangers opened the Midwest Athletic Conference portion of their schedule with a 3-1 victory over Parkway on Thursday.

The Rangers won in four sets, 23-25, 25-14, 25-21 and 25-17.

Senior Kenzie Schroer led the Rangers witth 17 kills, 30 assists and 23 digs.

Shayna Bierlein tallied 19 kills, eight digs and Kayla Jaynes collected 23 assists an eight digs.

Caitlin Lammers recorded seven kills and two blocks, while Faith Homan led New Knoxville with 34 digs on the night.

Jenna Schwieterman had three kills, two blocks and 16 digs.

Ashlyn Miller recorded 11 digs and Taylor Doty had five kills.

The Rangers' junior varsity team won in three sets, 25-23, 15-25, 25-23.

St. Marys 3, Van Wert 0

Boys Soccer

​St. Marys 4, Van Wert 1

The St. Marys Roughriders boys' soccer team won their Western Buckeye League opener, 4-1 against Van Wert on Thursday.

The Roughriders (4-0, 1-0 WBL) struck first 10 minutes into the contest with a header from Inigo Ybarra Ramirez-Cardenas with an assist by Austin Wilker.

Inigo struck again with 11 minutes remaining in the half with a goal and assist by Dylan Davis to give St. Marys a 2-0 lead going into the half.

Seven minutes into the second half, the Riders scored on a goal by Dylan Engel, who connected off a Caleb James assist and put the ball in the back of the post for a 3-0 St. Marys' lead.

Van Wert got on the board with a goal in three minutes later, but the Roughriders put the icing on the cake with a fourth goal, this one from James with 18 minutes left in regulation.

Fairlawn 7, New Knoxville 1

The Rangers boys' soccer fell on Thursday, losing to Fairlawn 7-1 in Western Ohio Soccer League action.

Cole Thompson recorded the Rangers' (1-3, 1-2 WSOL) lone goal with an assist by Zach Davis.

Boys Golf

St. Marys 176, Van Wert 182

The St. Marys Roughriders improve their Western Buckeye League standing with a 176-182 win on Thursday against Bath at Hidden Creek Golf Course. 

St. Marys (3-2) was led by Jacob Hollman, who was the medalist in the match with a 41. Austin Cook followed with a 44 and Josh Wingett golfed his best game of the season with a 45.

 

Minster 171, Marion Local 218

 

The Minster Wildcats boys' golf team defeated Marion Local, 171-218 in Midwest Athletic Conference action at Arrowhead Golf Course on Thursday.

Adam Knapke was the medalist on the day with a 39.

Jordan Brackman followed with a score of 41 and Ben Stubbs shot a 43.

 

Versailles 177, New Knoxville 209

 

The New Knoxville boys' golf team was defeated by Versailles, 177-209 in Midwest Athletic Conference action at Arrowhead Golf Course on Thursday. 

Versailles' Nick Lictenstonebraker and Kyle Cottner were the medalist in the match with a 42.

Ray Newton led the Rangers (1-5 MAC) with a team-best 47.

 

Girls Golf

 

Minster 187, Marion Local 227 

 

The Minster Wildcats girls' golf team defeated Marion Local, 187-227 in Midwest Athletic Conference action on Thursday.

Taylor Homan was the medalist with a 41.

 

New Bremen 220, Coldwater 230

 

The New Bremen Cardinals girls’ golf team defeated Coldwater, remaining unbeaten with a 220-230 Midwest Athletic Conference match on Thursday at Arrowhead Golf Course.

Coldwater’s Logan May was the match’s medalist with a score of 50.

New Bremen was led by Claire McClurg and Caylie Hall, who both shot a 54 for the Cardinals (5-0, 3-0 MAC).

 

Sarah Huwer and Lisa Berges both scored a 48 for the Wildcats (4-1, 3-0 MAC).

 

Girls Tennis

 

St. Marys 5, Elida 0

 

The St. Marys Roughriders girls tennis team defeated Elida, 5-0 on Thursday in Western Buckeye League action.

At first singles, Claire Caywood defeated Elida's Ellie Neal, 6-3, 6-0.

St. Marys' (3-1 WBL) Hanna Felver won her second singles match, 6-0, 6-0 against Ashley Watkins and Jennifer Brown won her third singles match by the same score, 6-0, 6-0 against Elida's Annie Sayogo.

Jillian Wine and Kara Danaher defeated Kate Foster and Angelina Wright, 6-0, 6-0.

Bailey Lininger and Grace Dicke won their second doubles match against Elida's Madalyne Schember and Jieve Tueuggnan, 6-0, 6-2.
