A 16-year-old Buckland resident died in a crash Sunday afternoon.
According to a report from the Wapakoneta Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol, at approximately 1:28 p.m. Sunday, Garret M. Hale, 18, of St. Marys, was driving a 1998 Dodge pick-up truck north on St. Marys River Road, just south of Glynwood Road, when he traveled off the right side of the road, struck several trees and then the vehicle went down a steep embankment, which caused it to overturn.
Hale was not injured in the crash. He had two passengers in the truck — Dustyn Selhorst, 17, of Wapakoneta, was riding in the center front seat of the truck and suffered non-life threatening injuries. He was transported to Joint Township District Memorial Hospital in St. Marys for treatment. Noah I. Weber, 16, of Buckland, was in the right front passenger seat and was partially ejected from the vehicle. A representative of the Auglaize County Coroner's Office pronounced Weber dead at the scene.
The Auglaize County Sheriff's Office, St. Marys Police Department and St. Marys Fire and EMS assisted at the scene. The crash remains under investigation.
