Wednesday Round-Up: Nixon Throws Perfect Game in Tourney Win

MINSTER — Josh Nixon saved his best in an already stellar season on the mound for the postseason. His best was perfection. Nixon threw a perfect game in Minster’s 2-0 Division IV sectional final win over Lima Perry on Wednesday night at Hanover Street Park. Minster advances to the district semifinals on Wednesday in Coldwater against Spencerville , which defeated New Bremen 10-0 on Wednesday night.

“I started thinking about it about the fifth inning,” Nixon said. “I looked up and realized there were zeroes on the board. I tried not to think about it, but especially in that last inning it kept creeping up.”

SPENCERVILLE – With a 9-run third inning by the Spencerville Bearcats Wednesday night the New Bremen Cardinals tournament trail ended as the Bearcats defeated the Cardinals 10-0 ib five innings in the Division IV sectional championship game played at Spencerville.

Western Buckeye League Track Day 1
DEFIANCE — The St. Marys track team had a pair of fourth-place finishes on Wednesday on the first day of the Western Buckeye League championship meet at Defiance’s Fred J. Brown Stadium.
The St. Marys girls 3200 meter relay team of Riley Wilson, Josie Bowman, Laura Wilker and Kelly Wilker finished fourth with a 10:05.2 time.
St. Marys’ Matt Patten finished fourth in the boys shot put with a throw of 45 feet.
